Florianópolis is one of the biggest footvolley hubs in Brazil. With beaches on every side, nets set up all year round and a strong community of athletes and amateurs, there is no shortage of options for anyone who wants to play, whether free-style on the beach or with structured training at a training center.
Floripa, a footvolley hub
The island gathers rare conditions for beach sports: long beaches, quality sand, a climate that allows playing all year and an active competitive scene, with regular tournaments and circuits.
The result is a community that mixes locals, tourists and high-level athletes, with footvolley games happening every day at several spots around the island.
Campeche and the Riozinho spot
Campeche beach, in the south of the island, is one of the historic footvolley addresses in Florianópolis. It was at the Riozinho spot, right on the beach, that the community was born which gave rise to CT Riozinho, the first footvolley school in the city, founded in 2013.
To this day, Campeche hosts strong footvolley games, with players of all levels sharing the nets set up on the sand.
Other beaches with footvolley
Beyond Campeche, footvolley is present along practically the entire coastline of the island: Lagoa da Conceição, Barra da Lagoa, Jurerê, Canasvieiras and Ingleses are spots known for permanent nets and frequent games.
Each spot has its own dynamic: some are dominated by open rotation games, others by closed groups organized via WhatsApp. Showing up, saying hello and asking how the queue works is always the best start.
Beach or training center: what is the difference?
Playing on the beach is free and has the charm of the sport’s roots, but it depends on tide, wind and the luck of finding a game at your level. For those who want to improve, structured training at a center makes a difference: a leveled court protected from the wind, lighting for night games, groups split by level and a coach watching your technique.
For most players the ideal is combining both: classes at the center to develop technique and beach games to gain match experience.
How to join a rotation game
Rotation ("rotativo") is the most common casual format: players take turns on the court, usually in short games, and the losing side gives way to the next in line.
CT Riozinho offers rotation sessions in its weekly schedule, open to students and visitors, plus court rental for private groups. It is the easiest way to play regularly and get to know the local community.
Train at CT Riozinho
CT Riozinho is located at Rua Pau de Canela, 1847, in Campeche, inside Clube Esportivo Campinas, with free parking. The arena is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 22:00 and on weekends from 09:00 to 17:00, with footvolley and beach tennis classes for all levels.
